REIKI

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a form of energy healing that uses a tranquil hands-on method to transfer universal energy in the form of Ki, allowing for self healing and a state of equilibrium. Reiki was discovered in Japan around one hundred years ago. In Japanese, Rei means "universal," often with the component of a “Universal Intelligence,” and Ki means a “nonphysical energy.” Within the past 30 years Reiki has rapidly spread throughout all corners of the globe.

Reiki in Medicine

Increasingly acknowledged by the conventional medical world, Reiki officially is beginning to be used in hospitals to support standard medical care. Reiki can help speed healing and recovery time from surgery, and it can reduce the negative side effects of medication or medical treatments (like chemotherapy). Reiki does not attack disease, rather it supports our well-being and strengthens our natural healing ability.

How Reiki Works

Reiki specifically affects the subtlest level of the biofield. Biofields are extremely fine multilevel energy fields which surround and permeate the human body. Biofields are also what acupuncturists and Qi-gong therapists manipulate. Reiki practitioners channel Reiki energy into clients either through light touch on the body, or without contact by positioning hands within several inches of the body. Clients always remain fully clothed during treatments.

How Many Reiki Sessions Do I Need?

The number of Reiki sessions needed is dependent upon the individual. Acute conditions tend to balance more readily than chronic conditions. If you have a serious or constantly problematic condition, it would be beneficial to begin with frequent sessions, at least once a week, and gradually space the sessions out further as health and balance increase. Starting out with sessions on four consecutive days is a powerful way to jump-start the healing process.

Some people in good health don’t need such intensive attention, and prefer to receive Reiki for regular maintenance. It should never be underestimated how much you help yourself with preventative care. Why wait until you are sick until you seek assistance with your health? Occasional regular Reiki not only feels relaxing, but it is always working to bring you into balance.

You can never “overdose” on Reiki, no matter how many treatments you receive or how long the sessions last. It is important to understand though that the beneficial effects of Reiki are cumulative. The more Reiki you receive, the more you open to it, and the more positive changes can be made.

Although you may experience great relief from the very first treatment, it is wise to have at least three or four sessions before evaluating what Reiki can do for you. Reiki sessions are usually relaxing, but you rarely leave with the same experience from sessions to session. Each session meets you where you are at that moment and moves you from that place closer to your unique place of balance.
